Mr. Babb is originally from Oklahoma, but work has taken him from South Florida to
South Texas and finally to Southern California where he has spent the last twenty years.
Prior to beginning his career in Cable TV, he served in the Navy in communications and
traveled the world. His education includes Western Oklahoma State College, Amarillo
College, DeVry Institute of Technology, National Cable Television Institute (NCTI), and
currently holds an FCC license in communication.
As a business executive, his previous writing experience has been directed toward
letters, memos, proposals, and reports, however he has always enjoyed the magic that can
be spun with words to sell, convince, or inform those targeted. Earth is Ours is his first
effort toward spinning a tale of entertainment. The telling of this story and weaving the
words provides a very exciting and entertaining saga, which won Best Fantasy/SciFi 2005
from the San Diego Book Awards Association. The sequel, Target Earth, won Finalist 2006
from the same awards. The third of this series, Earth's Dragons, is complete and is due
for release in 2010.
His plans to move back to Oklahoma finally materialized and he and his wife Junie
have moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma in the heart of Green Country. He wants to settle into a
slower pace and devote his energy to his writing and fishing on Lake Eufaula.
(Gary W. Babb)
Capt. Nick Johns, a wounded and quadriplegic Marine Corps veteran of the Iraq War, is approached by assertive government officials, who, unbelievably, recall him to active duty to serve humanity. He is chosen because of his self-sacrificing war record and his unique ability to survive depression resulting from his debilitating injury. To be more precise, they want his disembodied brain to command and become the spaceship, Genesis, for a two hundred year deep-space flight to re-establish the human race doomed to extinction from an asteroid.
One selfless but vastly superior, augmented mind must discover a way to honor his commitment to serve humanity and save the human race, even from itself. Capt. Johns must survive centuries of essential medical research and implementation, technical and societal challenges and disasters, long years of loneliness inherent to command, alien encounters, and possibly even Divine Intervention. Can the love of two women provide the balance he so desperately needs to endure or will they cause his demise?
